École des Sables

TOUBAB DIALAW | SENEGAL
International Centre for Traditional
and Contemporary African Dances

Founded by Germaine Acogny and Helmut Vogt, l'École des Sables is an internationally recognised professional dance centre, rooted in west-African traditions.

Since the foundation stone was laid by the founders, the school is attracting dancers, choreographers, students, teachers and musicians from all over the world.

Practical Information

l’École des Sables is situated nearby Toubab Dialaw in Senegal, an old fisherman village located 53 kilometers south of Dakar. The school is surrounded by nature and a 5 minute walk from the sea. The views from the two open studios, one with a sand floor, are breathtaking.

Three meals a day will be served at the restaurant of the school. Dancers are housed at the schools' compound in bungalows suitable for three people. The bungalows are structured in small villages next to the studios. Around a tree next to the office, nick-named 'The Wi-Fi-tree', an internet connection is provided.
